View "the most beautiful cherry blossoms on earth" at the Takato Castle Ruins in Nagano.
The Takato Cherry Blossom Festival is held at the Takato Castle Ruins in Ina City, Nagano Prefecture.
Originally transplanted from a local horse pasture, over 1500 trees featuring unusual crimson-tinted blossoms surround the castle ruins, and from olden times have been considered called "the most beautiful cherry trees on earth." The blossoms are usually at their peak in mid-April, and visitors can enjoy seeing them illuminated at night from dusk until 10:00 p.m. Not only have the Takato Castle Ruins been selected as one of the 100 best sakura-viewing sites in Japan, the town also offers stunning views of the Japan Alps.
