Tsukumi City Kawazu Cherry Blossoms

Cherry blossoms, synonymous with spring, need no introduction. Blooming in sweeping fashion across the country, they hold an indelible place in the hearts of the Japanese people. The earliest-blooming variety, Kawazu-zakura, can be found in abundance in the city of Tsukumi in southern Oita, where some five thousand trees blossom amid beautiful natural surroundings and a rugged coastline.
